At the end of 2019, the venerable Chosera / Professional series stones by Naniwa underwent their 3rd evolution. The result was the Gouken Arata series. All 3 versions of the Chosera share the same length and width dimension; 210 x 70 mm. The original Chosera was 25mm thick, the Professional was 20mm thick and now the Arata is 15mm thick. Packaged with a plastic case that doubles as a stand and drying cabinet, this is a very nice new package to have in the stone corral.

This new ‘Baby Chosera’ has a similer feel to the original, and the differences in feel and speed are, arguably, minor. One big difference though, is how much water it will soak up. I would not call this atone a ‘soaker’it is notably thirstier than the original Chosera.
