Here we have a historic piece of Tenjyou that was graded by Asano as Betsu Ogami long after it was cut. This piece probably dates to the early years of the 1900s. The stamps were probably applied in the late 1960s. I would assume this was part of someone’s beloved collection and sold after they passed on. I would also guess that the stone was, probably, much thicker originally. The texture on the bottom of the stone is indicative of larger stones taken from the very original tunnels, it seems almost sandy; this tells me it is from the 2nd Tenjyou layer, which is the 3rd Nagura layer overall; it is located just above the unused Buchikou strata.
