There are many definitions and expectations of the small stones that we refer to as 'Tomo Nagura'. For me, a Tomo is simply a slurry stone, one that allows me to achieve the desired finished result. There are many theories about what a 'Tomo' should and should not be. I find that having different Tomo Nagura on hand significantly improves my options while increasing any base-stone's flexibility.
