Tanba is well known as a source for Aoto. This stone is similar to Aoto in a small way but it is much harder and finer than any typical Ao-ishi you would come across.
If this was a full-size stone, I’d say it might be a decent razor finisher; maybe not the best in the land but still capable. The hardness is good, above average for sure. Mostly, I like to use this big Kameoka Tomae Tomo for keeping my stones in tip-top condition; they make a very nice slurrye easily and it will refresh the working surface on any Awasedo quite easily.
