Like the 4k Habayusa, the abrasive in this stone is Alundum, and the binder appears to be a ceramic type. Allegedly, the Fuji’s spread of particle-sizes is tighter than it is with their other stones. It’s lighter and slightly harder than the Jyunpaku stone. The Habayusa and Fuji stones were first released in October 2013.

The Fuji can be used as splash & go stone, no soaking is needed. It did soak up a small bit of water initially, and I only had to add a few drops of water once or twice afterwards.

The Fuji is an excellent polishing or finishing stone. It’s faster than other 8k stones I’ve used, and it’s perfect for following the 4k Habayusa.  The Fuji allowed me to better my edges off the Jyunpaku. The mirrored polish was better and the edges cut more smoothly. The scratch pattern on the bevel coming off this stone is hard to see and under 10x magnification it appears to be extremely consistent.
