Nakayama Asagi

Previous

This is hard stone, but it will slurry easily on a hard stone. So - it’s not very hard, just more than ‘hard enough’. The shape is odd, I had to cut 1/2 of the stone away due to the presence of a fissure loaded with a toxic inclusion. What is left - is pure premium stone that is totally free of issues. This was an older piece that probably never sold due to the presence of a seam running through the stone and across the working surface.

The far stamp calls out the mine - Nakayama, and the one closer is the official stamp of the Kyoto Whetstone association.
