Admittedly, there is no way to know for sure, but I do believe that this stone dates to the late 1800s. I have had Pike stones in dated boxes in the early 1900s and none were ever in a slide lid box. Whatever the case, this is old, and it is in stellar condition. The box is solid, the label is well preserved, and the stone shows hardly any signs of use.
