Iwatani Kiita Koppa with KWA Stamp
Up in the corner you can see the official Kyoto Whetstone Association stamp, but there is no stamp indicating the stone’s origin. This one was sold as an Iwatani, and I have no reason to believe otherwise.
There is some skin on the sides, but none on the bottom, which was chiseled clear. This Jnat gives up slightly pasty slurry that feels very silky and fine.
Good Kiita are in high demand, I feel that I was quite lucky to score such a nice Koppa with a good shape and a stable bottom side. It’s only partially lapped – I didn’t want to take the stamp off the corner, but it’s flat enough and it gives up delicious edges that are both keen and smooth.
