Tomo Blue

Tomo Blue is a unique compound for sharpening straight razors. Besides the fact that the blue color sets it apart visually, the specifications are remarkable. The particle size is .15 µm, and the tolerances are tight. This is a very consistent and smooth cutting ultrafine abrasive. Roughly speaking, we are looking at 165,000 grit. Yes – 165k. Surprisingly though, the edges, when done correctly, are not overly tedious. I would not say they are smooth like one of my Jnat edges but they are not harsh like diamond paste or CBN edges at all. To be honest, the sharpness has an organic ‘feel’ to it that wears in fast after the initial shave. This is a fast acting compound, 6 passes over a 6-inch webbing strop charged with Tomo Blue is enough to get your edge all the way ‘there’.
