The Metalite Barber Hone
This appears to be a slab of aluminum with abrasive strips set into grooves on the top of the plate. This would seem to be a bad idea, but it actually works very well.
It just seems wrong; running a blade on top of an aluminum block doesn’t make sense. The strips are proud of the plate’s surface, so the razor can’t touch the metal.
